Contingency

Ironically, and in direct relation to my last blog, this thought was brought on by the class I hate most this semester. In my philosophy class, my teacher said that something was contingent on something else, and then explained what contingency is. I guess something that is contingent exists only due to certain circumstances that allowed that thing to exist. So we're all contingent because our parents all did it and made us. And so much stuff is contingent on something else. Computers are contingent on the fact that electricity was made, and electricity is contingent on Benjamin Franklin. I just thought it was crazy how such a bland sounding word could be pretty and mind blowing, for me at least.

...please keep in mind I realize how weird this post is.

Creation of Blogflection

Why does almost everyone hate school? More specifically, college. And I'm talking about the actual classes, not the debauchery that happens outside of school.I hate school. All of my friends hate school. Most of the people I've ever talked to at least don't like school. Is it because school is just relearning things we've learned in high school or earlier? I don't think so, because most people like doing things over and over if they like them...we just don't like school. So the root of school sucking is not that it is the same thing year after year. I think it's because everybody thinks everybody else is retarded. I think that 2 of my 5 professors are retarded. I only like 2 of them. That leaves one in the middle of the spectrum, who I don't happen to like, she's just not retarded. So if this sample were to be representative of all colleges, that would be 40% of college professors in the United States that seem to be retarded.
The thing is, I am really mediocre at doing my job, too. Waiting tables isn't my thing. I am planning on a career change, hopefully very soon. People must be thinking, why is this guy waiting tables? He's clearly awkward when talking to us, he says the same thing over and over again, and he's just going through the motions.
Sounds like some professors I know. All I'm saying is, we should find people to teach classes that aren't a product of mundane schoolwork out of overpriced textbooks and writing essays about obscure research topics. In my opinion, professors should be more like monks, living and breathing what they teach. Either that or just more specialized training would be nice.
