Holiday Advertisements

I was just remembering last night how every year Heineken has that holiday 5-pack commercial where the guy has a 6-pack wrapped up and take one of them out of the wrapping. They've played that commercial probably since I was like 10. That's about 11 years of the same commercial.
Just today, I saw that Budweiser commercial with the horse and buggy going through a snowy neighborhood and people are humming some Christmasy tune in the background. I don't even know what song it is. But that commercial is probably older than the Heineken one.
But I think the most interesting company is Garmin. Every ad I've seen from that company uses the tune of "Carol of the Bells," which is one of the few Christmas songs I could actually listen to and not get tired of it after hearing it once in the mall. A couple others are "White Christmas," and sadly, "All I Want for Christmas Is You."
I think the weird thing is that Christmas is obviously very commercialized...and I like that it's commercialized. If it were a holiday exclusively for followers of Jesus, Christmas would be a lame holiday because everybody sucks at following the word of The Bible (I'm just kind of assuming that following The Bible is following Jesus, but I think a lot of Christians are being more lenient with that, so who even knows what a Christian is anymore).
So, I think that Christians need to chill with the "reason for the season" stuff. Yeah, we get it. "Christ" is in the name. We know. But I also want to point out, and this is probably well known by now, that Christmas should actually be in June or July, I don't know which of those months Jesus was born in. So in fact, the reason for the season is Winter is a really good time to see your family and friends and give and receive presents. Accept the commercialism. It's family, friends, and presents that make the holiday cool. We should adopt a policy to separate church and Christmas in addition to church and state. I'm sorry but the church makes everything controversial.
